Hardy is a professor at Fayetteville State University and previously worked as a school social worker. Hardy has spoken out against the North Carolina General Assembly’s bill to ban abortion after 12 weeks. Hardy is endorsed by the National Women's Political Caucus and Higher Heights for America PAC.
