Cavanagh was elected to the Michigan Supreme Court in 2018 and unanimously chosen by her colleagues last year to serve as Chief Justice. Prior to joining Michigan’s top court, Cavanagh was an appellate lawyer for 15 years. She said she is running to help create a justice system that is “accessible, transparent, and centered on people.” She grew up in East Lansing.

Justice Hood was appointed to the Michigan Supreme Court in 2025. Hood previously served as a judge on the Michigan Court of Appeals and the Wayne County Circuit Court. He also worked as a prosecutor, focused on public corruption, opioid-related offenses, and fraud. Hood said that on the court, he is committed to “facts, fairness, integrity, and the rule of law.” Hood was born and raised in Detroit.

Howe is a judicial reform advocate who has heavily criticized Michigan’s probate court system. Morse-Bills is a presiding judge on the 23rd Judicial Circuit Court, which covers Alcona, Arenac, Iosco and Oscoda counties. Previously, Morse-Bills was the Oscoda County Prosecuting Attorney and worked in private practice. She said that a “judge's job is to apply the law as it is written” and that she is dedicated to the “principles of fairness and accountability.” Morse-Bills grew up in Oscoda County.

Warren has served on the Oakland County Circuit Court since 2002. A podcaster and TV personality, Warren has also taught at Western Michigan University Cooley Law School and Wayne State University. Warren is a former member of the Michigan State Board of Education. Warren said he “interprets the law as written” and has an “unwavering commitment to fairness.” Warren lives in Oakland County.
